The St. Luke's University Health Network has been providing the highest level of care to patients in the Lehigh Valley and beyond for nearly 150 years.

While the clinical care and treatment of those in our community is paramount, we know our patient’s financial wellness is also extremely important. With this in mind, we are happy to introduce AblePay Health to all of our patients.

The St. Luke's and AblePay Health Story

There is a rich history regarding the St. Luke’s University Health Network and the Lehigh Valley region. The connection with AblePay Health is a more recent part of that history. AblePay is based in Bethlehem and was founded by a valley native who grew up in Fountain Hill (home of the first SLUHN hospital).

AblePay Health was founded in 2016 with a mission to offer a simple solution to the rising out-of-pocket medical expenses that many patients face today. In 2017, SLUHN became a participating provider with AblePay, providing clinical care to their members (our patients) throughout our 12 hospitals and over 1900 physicians and care providers.

In turn, AblePay went out to the community, working with health insurance brokers and their employer clients to assist employees in the region with the AblePay program.

After four years of working together, we have seen the impact the program is making on the financial wellness of their members, and we decided that we want all our patients who are eligible to take advantage of the benefits AblePay provides.

AblePay is a NO-COST program that allows you to save on your out-of-pocket medical expenses (deductibles and coinsurance) while assisting if you ever have questions regarding your bill.

AblePay works with any health insurance, including Medicare, so everyone is eligible to participate. You can include anyone on your account that you are willing to be financially responsible for, even if they have a different insurance plan!

Enrolling is simple and takes less than five minutes.

  1. Visit the website (www.ablepayhealth.com) and click “Enroll Now” or use the link below.

  2. Enter your demographic Information

  3. Add your family members that you’ll be responsible for (they can have a different insurance plan)

  4. Add your default payment term and payment method(s)

  5. Receive your AblePay card in the mail and keep with insurance card

The next time you visit a SLUHN provider, show your AblePay card when you present or verify your primary health insurance. SLUHN will process your AblePay card like secondary insurance. After your service is complete and your insurance company processes your claim), SLUHN will bill AblePay. You will get an email from AblePay notifying you that they received your bill and the amount you owe (after your insurance has paid their portion). Your insurance carrier will still provide your Explanation Of Benefits (EOB).

Once notified of a new claim, you will have 5 days to decide if you would like to change your payment method and term to meet your financial needs. If you make no changes, after 5 days the first payment will be pulled from your default payment method based on the term you choose during enrollment.

The best part, you may utilize the program at any St. Luke's location, hospital, urgent care, lab, or physician office!
